Origin: A male variety, selected by S.C.Catinaplant S.R.L. Bistrița from the sea buckthorn population, species Hippophae rhamnoides L. Var. Carpatica.
The year when the patent was granted: 2018
The plan grows and develops as a tree, with an oval-wide crown, of medium width and density, and of medium growth. The branches are in a semi-erect position, moderately thick, with a large number of annual shoots. The annual shoots are of medium thickness, greenish-grey in summer, well developed, reaching varying lengths, between 20 and 150 cm. The thorns on the annual branches are rare, 5-6 cm long and very sharp.
The buds on the branches are denser than those of the female plants, which, between winter and spring, when pollination starts, become big and brownish.
The buds on the branches are denser compared to the buds of female plants which, during the winter and until spring when pollination begins, turn brown and become large.
The effective pollination period is between the beginning and the end of April, with full coverage of the flowering periods of all female varieties, with rich, fertile and compatible pollen.
The Andrei variety imposes renewal pruning every 4-5 years.
It is recommended that, in the sea buckthorn plantations, the ratio between the female plants and the male plants should be of minimum 8 to 1.
The intervals on which the male plants are planted should be 0.5 m wider.
